SIL Accommodation
Supported Independent Living gives NDIS participants the staffing they need to live in a residential home setting while actively developing greater self-reliance over time. The emphasis at People’s First Choice Australia is on that second word: independent. Every support interaction in our SIL homes is designed to strengthen a resident’s own capability, not just to manage their day-to-day needs on their behalf. That distinction matters, and it shapes outcomes in a way that participants and families notice quickly.
How We Deliver SIL Support in Victoria
- Active and awake 24-hour support for residents with higher or unpredictable care needs
- Daily personal care, hygiene management, meal preparation, and household assistance
- Targeted independence skill-building woven into everyday routines and activities
- Community access programs, social opportunities, and recreational participation for all residents
- Positive behaviour support delivered in partnership with specialist practitioners
- Home modification and equipment assessments in coordination with occupational therapists
- Regular participant-centred goal reviews and support plan updates aligned with NDIS outcomes
What Makes PFCA SIL Different
We take house culture seriously. The relationships between residents and support workers, the tone of daily interactions, and the sense of community within a household all contribute to how well participants actually do in a SIL setting. We deliberately invest in these things because the research, and our own experience, confirms that they matter enormously.
We support SIL participants with a wide range of disability-related needs, including physical disability, acquired brain injury, intellectual disability, and psychosocial disability. SIL proposals are developed collaboratively with the NDIA, allied health teams, and families to ensure every placement is evidence-based and genuinely person-centred.
What We Provide
- Shared and individual SIL residential arrangements with consistent support teams
