MTA Housing Provider
Medium-Term Accommodation is designed to bridge a specific gap: the period between an NDIS participant leaving one housing arrangement and their permanent solution becoming available. That waiting period can stretch weeks or months, and the quality of support during that time matters enormously. At People’s First Choice Australia, our MTA placements are stable, well-staffed, and focused not just on maintaining a participant’s wellbeing during the transition, but on actively progressing the plan to move them into the right permanent home.
How We Support MTA Participants
- Safe, properly staffed transitional housing while permanent arrangements are confirmed
- Full daily living, personal care, and household support throughout the placement
- Active guidance on SDA, SIL, and private housing pathways during the waiting period
- Strong referral links to housing advocacy, occupational therapy, and support coordination
- Structured transition planning with regular milestones and progress reporting
- Community participation support to keep participants engaged and socially connected
- Flexible support adjustments as individual needs change throughout the MTA period
Our Approach to MTA Placements
A transitional housing period has to accomplish two things simultaneously. It needs to be stable and genuinely supportive for the participant living through it, and it needs to keep the momentum toward a permanent solution moving forward. We treat both as equally important, which means participants never feel like they are just waiting. They feel like they are progressing.
We provide MTA housing for participants transitioning from hospital or sub-acute settings, those whose SDA property is still under construction or assessment, and individuals moving between residential care arrangements. Our team coordinates directly with NDIA planners and housing providers to reduce delays and ensure smooth transitions at every stage.
What We Provide
- Stable, staffed transitional housing while awaiting SDA or long-term accommodation
- Complete daily living, personal care, and domestic support throughout the MTA period
- Health monitoring, medication management, and clinical support coordination
- Support coordination and housing transition assistance from PFCA-aligned coordinators
- OT assessment and home modification planning for the next permanent placement
- Community access, social programs, and meaningful activities throughout the stay
- Move-in support and handover coordination when the permanent placement is confirmed
MTA placements are managed in close collaboration with NDIA planners, SDA housing providers, occupational therapists, and allied health professionals to maintain care continuity and ensure every transition moves as smoothly and quickly as possible for the participant.
