Psychosocial Recovery Coaches

Recovery from a psychosocial disability is real, meaningful work. Our NDIS recovery coaches in Victoria are here to do that work with you, not just around you.

Psychosocial Recovery Coaches

A Psychosocial Recovery Coach is not a therapist and not a support worker. They occupy a unique space in between, helping NDIS participants with mental health conditions to make their NDIS plan work for their recovery, build structure in their daily life, and take meaningful steps forward when everything feels stuck. At People’s First Choice Australia, our coaches bring real recovery experience, practical problem-solving, and genuine commitment to every person they work with.

How Our Recovery Coaches Support Participants

  • Establishing daily routines that provide stability and reduce mental health triggers
  • Co-designing recovery goals that are realistic, motivating, and genuinely participant-led
  • Helping participants get the most out of their NDIS plan through active navigation and advocacy
  • Building and strengthening social networks, peer connections, and community belonging
  • Developing crisis plans, early warning systems, and relapse prevention strategies
  • Coordinating care across clinical mental health services, allied health, and community supports
  • Providing coaching and guidance to family members who support psychosocial participants

Our Approach

We do not design recovery coaching programs and expect participants to fit into them. We start from where each person is right now, whatever that looks like, and we build upward from there. Some weeks will look like significant progress. Others will be about holding ground. We show up for both and we do not change our level of commitment based on how the week is going.

Our recovery coaches are trained in recovery-oriented practice and mental health first aid, and they work as active members of each participant’s broader clinical and support team. That coordination means participants never fall through gaps between services.

What We Provide

  • Personalised recovery planning and goal documentation
  • Structured routine development and habit-building coaching
  • NDIS plan navigation, service linkage, and funding maximisation
  • Social connection support and community reintegration assistance
  • Relapse prevention planning and crisis response preparation
  • Liaison with psychiatrists, psychologists, and clinical case managers
  • Transition support for participants leaving hospital or residential care

Collaboration With Mental Health and Allied Health Professionals

Our recovery coaches are embedded in multidisciplinary care arrangements alongside treating psychiatrists, psychologists, community mental health teams, and occupational therapists. This joined-up approach means every element of a participant’s care is pulling in the same direction.
