More Than a Place to Stay
Short-Term Accommodation and Assistance (STA) is a funded NDIS support that provides temporary residential care away from a participant’s usual home. It might be used for a planned carer break, an emergency situation, a holiday-style experience, or simply to give a participant a change of environment. Whatever the reason, at People’s First Choice Australia we treat every STA placement as an opportunity to deliver exceptional support, not just adequate coverage.
What Short-Term Accommodation With PFCA Looks Like
- Fully staffed temporary accommodation with workers experienced in the participant’s disability type
- Comprehensive daily living support including personal care, meals, and household routines
- Active social and recreational programming throughout every stay
- Stays ranging from a single night up to several consecutive weeks as needed
- Support intensity adjusted for each participant’s individual care requirements
- Regular check-ins and updates for families and primary carers throughout the placement
- Emergency STA placement for situations where primary carer support is unavailable
How We Make Every STA Stay Count
We do not run STA placements on autopilot. Before every stay, we gather information about who the participant is, what they enjoy, and what support protocols are in place. That preparation means from the moment a participant walks through the door, they are met with familiarity and genuine welcome, not a clipboard and a risk form.
NDIS plans typically allow up to 28 days of STA per plan year, and our team actively works with participants and support coordinators to use those days in the most strategic and beneficial way possible.
What We Provide
- Planned and emergency short-term accommodation placements across Victoria
- Personal care, hygiene, and daily routine management throughout each stay
- Medication supervision and health monitoring as required
- Social activities, outings, and skills-based programming during the placement
- NDIS goal-aligned activities and capacity building where relevant
- Full coordination with support coordinators, plan managers, and regular care teams
- Post-stay transition support and follow-up with participants and families
Before each STA placement, we engage directly with allied health practitioners, regular support workers, and behaviour support professionals to ensure any protocols, health care plans, and individual preferences are properly embedded before the participant’s arrival.
